Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has explained why he appointed former News of the World editor Andy Coulson as his head of communications following his resignation from the paper.
Cameron said he takes "full responsibility" for employing Coulson, who resigned from News of the World in 2007 as the result of a phone hacking scandal.
Coulson has said he did not know the illegal practice was taking place.
The scandal has engulfed media baron the UK News International arm of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation empire.
On Thursday Murdoch's son James, who is Chairman of News International, announced News of the World would be shut down after Sunday's issue.
