Google's video-recording Glass make their runway debut in colors to match models showing off the latest collection of Diane von Furstenberg at New York Fashion Week.
USA-GOOGLE GLASS/FASHION WEEK -The color stealing the show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York is - clear - as in the color of glass - Google Glass.
The glasses, which should hit the market next year, can take pictures, record video, and do other things like a smartphone; hitting the runway in an attempt to show the technology as more chic, than geek.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin even kept his glasses on for his debut trip down the catwalk at the Diane Von Fustenberg collection.
GOOGLE CO-FOUNGER SERGEY BRIN SAYING:
"I was at a conference with her and I was testing out a prototype and she loved it, and we saw that we have very similar ambitions, which is to create products that are stylish and comfortable and functional. And those are, I think, the important elements of Glass and of course, her clothing designs."
Up until now, the public has only seen glimpses of Google Glass. But now with colorful frames paired with beautiful models, Brin in what he called an "artistic collaboration" appears to be going after fashionistas and the tech elite in on stride.
GOOGLE CO-FOUNDER SERGEY BRIN SAYING:
"I think it is about having technology help you without it being intrusive on your life. You don't want to have to work for your technology - to carry it, manage it, all that; it should work for you and this is an effort in that direction."
The footage recorded by the models on the runway, as well as backstage content recorded by Von Furstenberg will be used in a short film "DVF through Glass" to be published on her Google+ page on September 13th.
